Sergio Jimenez, along with 3 part-time employees.
5.5 acres in Gilroy, California, about 81 miles from the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.
Sergio worked on his father’s farm while growing up in Oaxaca, Mexico, but never anticipated a career in the field. After moving to California, he started growing vegetables in his backyard to relive stress. Rekindling his passion for the land, he eventually left his real estate career to begin his own farm. Ground Stew Farms grows certified organic herbs, leafy greens, tomatoes, strawberries, and other vegetables in Gilroy.

Sergio builds rich soils through the use of compost and cover crops.
Situated in the Elkhorn Slough watershed, Sergio’s farm is also home to many native frog species, including the American Bullfrog, California Red-Legged Frog, and Pacific Tree Frog.
