Cocktail ~ A Gala Affair

This recipe was demonstrated on May 14, 2008 at a cocktail demonstration and tasting event during San Francisco Cocktail Week.
Makes one cocktail
INGREDIENTS:
1.5oz Skyy Vodka
1oz Apple Juice
1oz Simple Syrup
.75oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
.5oz eggwhites
.5oz Laird’s AppleJack (or Calvados)
3 slices of Gala Apple
5-7 fresh basil leaves
PREPARATION:
In a mixing glass, muddle the three apple slices and the basil leaves. Combine the rest of the ingredients on top of the muddled mixture. Add ice and shake vigorously so as to achieve the desired affect from the egg whites. Double strain the mixture into a cocktail glass and garnish with a thin apple wedge on the rim of the glass and a basil blossom floating on the head of the cocktail.
