Parking Update

CUESA learned late last Thursday afternoon that the Pier ½ parking lot adjacent to the Ferry Building was being closed that same evening due to public safety concerns. It is still uncertain if or when that lot may be repaired and become available again. Shoppers who drive should plan to use other nearby lots.  For instance, in addition to the lot at the corner of Washington Street, there are the spaces available directly across the street at Embarcadero Center Lots 3 & 4.

Regular shopper Bev Mills normally parks at the Washington Street lot but decided to try Embarcadero 4 last Saturday. "It turned out to be easier and closer to the market—which is great for me because I buy for the entire week," she told market staff.

There is now additional low cost validated parking available nearby beginning this Saturday, July 12. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority is partnering with the Port of San Francisco to offer reduced weekend pricing at the city-owned Golden Gateway Garage for market shoppers. Golden Gateway Garage is located at 250 Clay Street and has over 1,000 public parking spaces. The validated rate will be $3 per day when exiting before 10 pm; the garage opens at 8 am (but may open earlier in the future). A validation stamp will be available at the market’s Information Booth. This lot will offer the same low rates on Sundays, with validation available from shops inside the Ferry Building.

Directions to this garage: head west on Washington Street off the Embarcadero, turn south (left) on Battery Street, then east (left) on Clay Street to the entrance. To walk to the farmers' market, exit the garage on either Washington Street or Clay Street and head three blocks east to the Embarcadero. Click here to download a map (PDF) and price list of parking options. 

Finally, remember to take advantage of the CUESA Veggie Valet service. Leave your bags with our volunteers at the green-tented Information Booth before you leave the market. Get your parking sticker validated Walk to your car and drive back to the curb cutout adjacent to the tent. Then pick up your bags and go. It’s free and easy.
