PRODUCTS: Blackberries, boysenberries, prunes and preserves.

FARMLAND: 83 acres in Fairfield, about 50 miles from the Ferry Plaza Farmers market

PEOPLE: Larry and Maria Glashoff along with 2 full-time and 4 seasonal employees; their 3 children help in the summers when they are home from college

FARM HISTORY/PHILOSOPHY: Larry started growing boysenberries in 4H when he was just 12 years old. Even though he has a full-time job working at a nearby wholesale nursery, Larry is dedicated to maintaining his small family farm. All of the Glashoff’s jams, jellies, and juices are made by hand on the farm.

SOIL: The Glashoffs use synthetic fertilizers to maintain soil fertility.

PEST MANAGEMENT: They remove some pests and weeds by hand and apply synthetic pesticides and herbicides to the remaining.

WATER USE: Drip, flood and sprinkler irigation

ORGANIC CERTIFICATION: None

FUN FACT: The Glashoff family has been farming in the Suisun Valley for more than 100 years.
