Harvest Festival and Food Day at the Farmers Market

Saturday, October 26, 2013 - 9:00am to 1:00pm

CUESA and the Ferry Building celebrate the fall harvest and Food Day, a nationwide celebration and a movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. Savor the season’s bounty and join us for a day of tasting, cooking, and learning.

8:00 - 10:30 am: CUESA’s Harvest Festival Pie Contest. Submit your homemade sweet or savory pie at the CUESA Classroom for a chance to win delicious prizes. Click here for rules and instructions.

9:00 - 10:30 am: Let’s Talk Pie! Have your pie questions answered by Lenore Estrada and Anna Derivi-Castellanos from Three Babes Bakeshop.

10:00 am - 1:00 pm: Visit the CUESA Classroom to enjoy seasonally inspired activities for all ages:

  • Press apple cider with our old-fashioned apple press. This is as fresh as apple juice gets!
  • Pick up pie recipes and CUESA’s Guide to Winter Squash.

11:00 am: Seasonal cooking demo with Laura Stec, Cool Cuisine: Taking the Bite Out of Global Warming

12:00 pm: Seasonal cooking demo with Francis Hogan, Bluestem Brasserie

1:00 pm: Pie contest winners announced!

All events take place in the CUESA Classroom (under the white tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public. Cooking demos include recipes and samples for all.

The Harvest Festival continues at the Ferry Building on Sunday, October 28. For Sunday’s activities, click here.

Also, join us on Friday, October 11, for a Pickling Party with Happy Girl Kitchen Co.
