Join CUESA for the Ninth Annual Goat Festival, a celebration of all things goat! Explore the wonders of goats, meet local ranchers and food crafters, sample artisan cheeses, and unleash your inner “kid” at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.

9 am - 1 pm: Goaty Arts & Crafts DIY Station

Get goaty at CUESA’s DIY arts and crafts station! Stop by to fashion your own personalized goat horns. All are welcome for family-friendly fun (under the archway, next to CUESA Classroom). Free.

10 am - 1 pm: Pet or View the Goats from Toluma Farms

Bring the kids to play with adorable baby goats from Toluma Farms and Tomales Farmstead Creamery in the Goat Festival petting stable (south driveway, near the Sur La Table store). To minimize crowds and avoid stress to the goats, access to the goat petting tent will require advance ticketing. Tickets for goat petting are sold out, but the viewing area is free for you to take a peek!

Toluma Farms is an Animal Welfare Approved dairy that raises goats and sheep on 160 certified organic acres in Marin County to produce award-winning cheese.

10:30 am: Market to Table Demo

Join us for a goat-cheese-themed cooking demo with Sophina Uong of Mestiza Taqueria at the CUESA Classroom (under the white tents in front of the Ferry Building, behind the CUESA Info Booth). Free.

11 am: Happy Little Goats Book Giveaway

Stop by the DIY Station in front of the Ferry Building to take your photo at our Goat Festival photo op for a chance to win a copy of Happy Little Goats (Chronicle Books), while supplies last.

11 am: Goat Cheese Tasting Plates

Taste local goat milk cheeses paired with preserves from the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, curated in collaboration with the California Artisan Cheese Guild. Grab-and-go sampler plates will be available at the CUESA Info Booth (black tent in front of the Ferry Building) on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. $5.

12 pm: Animal Welfare Talk

Join us at the CUESA Classroom for a discussion with local experts and ranchers about humane animal care and animal welfare certifications. We’ll be joined by goat and cattle farmer Donna Pacheco of Achadinha Cheese Company, Petaluma; chicken farmer Dede Boies of Root Down Farm, Pescadero; and journalist Tara Duggan of the San Francisco Chronicle (moderator). Free.

8 am - 2 pm: “Browse the Farmers Market” Scavenger Hunt

During our regular market hours, you can make like a goat and “browse” the delicious offerings from our local ranchers, food crafters, and chefs! Stop by the CUESA Info Booth to pick up a map of goat-inspired offerings to eat on site or take home.
