Fatted Calf and Prather Ranch Say Farewell

December 11, 2014

CUESA is sad to announce the departure of Fatted Calf and Prather Ranch Meat Co., who have been in the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market for nine years and 13 years, respectively. Their last day in the market will be December 20, and their presences will be dearly missed! You can continue to find Fatted Calf charcuterie at their shops in Hayes Valley and Napa, and Prather Ranch prepared foods and products inside the Ferry Building Marketplace.

From Fatted Calf:

After nine amazing years of participation at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, Saturday, December 20, will be our last market, as we have made the extremely difficult choice to cease our farmers market operations in 2015. A variety of factors contributed to this decision, but ultimately it was our desire to remain small, keep the quality of our products and customer service excellent, and concentrate our resources at our stores in Napa and in San Francisco, where growth has been keeping us on our toes. This has been one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make because our ties with the market, our fellow vendors, and our market customers go well beyond the realm of business. We are enormously grateful to CUESA and a food culture in the Bay Area that allows hundreds of small, quality-obsessed businesses like ours to flourish. It is our sincere hope that we will continue to see all of you who have been so supportive over the years at our brick-and-mortar locations in Hayes Valley and in Napa.

With love and meaty gratitude,

Taylor Boetticher, Toponia Miller, and Heather Bailie

From Prather Ranch Meat Co.:

Due to a need to focus on our Ferry Building meat shop and restaurant, our new meat CSA home delivery program, and a new farm and ag education project in Solano County, Prather Ranch Meat Co. has reluctantly decided to close our hot dog cart at the CUESA market. Prather Ranch got its start selling and grilling Prather beef at the CUESA Green St. market years ago, and we’re eternally grateful for the partnership and relationships we’ve built at the CUESA market over the years. As a small, sustainable meat provider, the farmers markets have been and continue to be an integral part PRMC’s success, and we will always remain a strong supporter of the amazing one-of-a-kind CUESA Saturday farmers market. We’re not really going anywhere, we’ll still be selling meat (and hot dogs) to our loyal market customers and staying connected to our CUESA farmer friends via our PRMC shop at the Ferry Building, so don’t forget to come by and see us!
